This is an obviously fake Humphrey. The eyes are two-toned. The head is barrel shaped.

The pic of an authentic tush tag is stolen from this auction.

Told the seller that I noticed that he had borrowed someone else's tush picture, and asked him to send me one of the beanie that is in the auction. *snicker*

The seller responded, and said that he uploaded 2 more tush pictures. They prove it is a counterfeit, of course.

Typical fake tush. No period and comma after TY INC, wrong spacing on the hand made in China line, wrong font.

I hope you told the seller it's fake. It has 2 bidders. Sad

Ebay removed the fake Humphrey. Does anyone know how much it sold for before it was removed? Thanks!

I think it sold for like $182? Somewhere around that. Her fake Trap went for 142, Bronty 52, Rex (gag) 47. So sad!

I thought the Humphrey sold for around $214 and may have been removed by ebay because of stolen picture. I'll email the winner as it is the same winner as the fake Trap.

Winner recently bought an authenticated Humphrey. Hopefully they will notice the difference, which will be quite obvious side by side.

I had emailed the winner and informed him a few of us were watching this auction. I asked him how much it went for and if he paid. Here is his response.

"Hello,
it was strange whem bib close, its not on my won item on my summary.
auction close at 212.00.i email the seller to find out what happen if ebay remove listing due to counterfeit and he told no,ebay didnt remove.that sounds very strange to me.yes i did pay for it.i hope i didnt get ripped-off.
Thanks for being concerd..."

I hope he paid with paypal as I'm sure he got an email from ebay saying he didn't have to pay for the Humphey beanie. It takes ebay a while to remove auctions with stolen pictures which is why I think it was removed, although he did put pictures of the actual fake tush tag before the auction ended.

I hate to give this guy the bad news on the auctions he won. He probably hasn't received them yet.

Is this bidder way_point? If so, I don't feel bad for him/her. I know this sounds rough but anyone who buys to resell should know what they are doing. If you are going to make beanies a small business then educate yourself and use authentication.

Just as we tell buyers, "know what you buy and buy what you know" I fully believe that sellers should "know what you sell and sell what you know".

I stumbled upon this forum on accident and I'm SO glad I did. I'm the terrible person you *snickered* at when discussing the beanies. I'm sure it was a suprise to all when I added my own pics. I accidentally uploaded someone elses picture and was horrified when I received your email. However, my response was NOT nasty! As for the items being fake~you're right, they are. I never pretended to know anything about beanies and was straight forward with any and all who asked questions. Normally when I list items I have all the info necessary before hand. I would NEVER intentionally sell anything to anybody that is counterfeit. That however isn't the case with many people these days as it was my four boys who got taken advantage of. A 'lovely' lady sold my children these fakes and had them soooo excited with thoughts of selling them and making extra money. Their excitement was contagious so we rushed home, I looked up basic info and we listed them. My error, their heartbreak. I'm just happy that out of several extremely rude emails, I received one understanding and informative one. I will never make this mistake again rest assured~Way_point got his refund and the others were made aware of the mistake and all is well.....except for 1 thing~
My children~Like I said.....I will NEVER make this mistake again.
Maybe next time you'll pause before you snicker or hesitate before you think that everyone is out to rip off everyone else.....because there are decent people out here still who can and do get hurt by accusations, assumptions and rude comments. Crying or Very sad
Thanks for your time....

It is illegal to buy and sell counterfeits. It is also illegal to "borrow" someone else's pictures. I sent you informative mail, nothing nasty. I have no idea about the others, but I can't see a lot of them screaming at you. Ebay requires sellers to guarantee authenticity of their items. You did not.

You should have researched before you tried to sell, and I hope that you have reported the "lovely lady" (she couldn't have been that great) to all the proper authorities. Glad that your children were excited, now take this as an opportunity to teach them about honesty and integrity.

Like I said.....my error in not researching beanies completely.
I am well aware of ebay policies as well as the legalities of buying/selling counterfeits. IF I was intentionally doing either I would be concerned not only for my moral standards, but legal repricussions as well. Had I looked into the topic more thoroughly, I would have been aware of counterfeit items~once again MY error. Having researched some info from Ebay listings, active and ended, I would have to say the enforcment of their strict policy to guarantee authenticity needs work. I am well aware of the fact that I am responsible for what I list and the conscequences of an incorrect listing. I also know that when a policy is in place it needs to be monitored and enforced.
People do make mistakes and hopefully a lesson is learned. The picture issue, a mistake I haven't ever made prior to this and won't again. A purely unintentional mistake that I resolved with the picture owner.
As for the lady who sold us the beanies, I'm taking her to court.
As for my children.....We have taught them well in the areas of honesty, integrity, respect and not passing judgement too. Their disappointment stems from these values. They're not upset about the money, they were let down by the total disregard of those values in others.
and
I was stunned and appalled at the messages I received concerning the items. I've never encountered such disgust, vulgarity and utter lack of respect like I did at the time. Yours may not have been 'nasty' but it wasn't polite. Just as your satisfactory *snicker* wasn't.
Regards....
