I was certainly scratching my head over these. One person interprets the information wrong, and all the rest jump on it. All newbies on the bay, as well.
There was a light blue peanut listed for 800.00 - I talked to the seller (who was one of those ebay drop off stores), and she said that the woman who wanted it listed said it was worth money because Alex Trebek said that the original Peanut was worth over $1,000. I would love to have heardd the actual Jeopardy wording of both question and answer. |

I saw that episode & it was repeated just a couple of weeks ago. I wish I would have been there because I would have said "Well, Alex, yall need to check your facts.
This original Ty Beanie Baby known as the "King" still holds a value of $1000.
A. What is Royal Blue Peanut.
Problem is, in the past few months there have been sales of $2250, $2000, $3000, $1650 plus some trades for cash & beanies. I won't count ones that are not authenticated. Plus it is not one of the true "original" beanies.
I love jeopardy. I have always wanted to try out. I'd do Millionaire too but jeopardy is more challenging. |

I think that we need to write Mr. Trebek a letter. I am going to do this today. Anybody else want to sign?
I can answer the questions about Literature and Horticulture, and then a few odd ones here and there, but I would embarass myself on a show. My husband does well, though, he always seems to know most of the answers.
I don't think that I could answer questions about hair at all. |

I saw the first airing of the show. I had seen an authenticated MWMT MQ RBP sell for around $800. Before the 1st airing I had seen the RBP sell on ebay for between $600 and $1200. I would say the $1,000 was about right. Maybe after the 1st airing the interest with this particular beanie went up.
I wish he would again talk about beanies are still collectible and maybe all the prices would go up again or at least the older ones. I was always hoping the show "Everyone Loves Raymond", his wife would become start buying beanies on ebay and become addicted to it. Of course this would create a lot of friction in the marriage which already has friction. The writers never did this, but I would have been happy to loan my beanie babies for the show.
Publicity really does increase the prices.

I agree that publicity helps - a lot.
Anyway, my quarrel isn't about the estimated price of the beanie, but rather that it was called original and King. The answer, as stated, is subjective. The question is incorrect for the answer. |

Hi, I'm new to the the forum and kind of new to ebay. I was an average collector back in the day but am now looking to enhance my collection with rarer (more rare?) beanies. I was just wondering what keywords all of you put in when searching for beanies on ebay. And once I figure out my digital camera I'll post pictures of my collection.
Thanks |

If you use "authenticated" and the name of the beanie that you want, that should help you alot. |
