Here's REALLY stupid, and it was ME.
I had to take help take Sophie and the Knapps to the airport yesterday....the Philadelphia one. I HATE Philly. Driving down on 95, we saw a multiple mile accident on 95 (the other side). When we got to the airport, Russel told me a 3 step, fairly easy shortcut, for scooting around 95 so that I could get around the traffic/accident.
I missed the second step. Somehow,I was on a bridge and then a tunnel and ended up in Maryland...figured it out, then scooched back into Delaware and found 95 again - but went the wrong way, and ended up over the bridge into Camden (New Jersey). FINALLY found a place to turn around again, then went the right way to get home. I did have to travel the accident part of 95, but it was cleared by the time I was heading back. It is a 1 hour trip, and it took me 3 (almost 4 hours) to get home.
In my defense, none of the states, except Delaware, can seem to make a road sign, and there are often 30-40 miles between exits on major roads, and you definitely aren't allowed to turn around on the bridges or in the tunnels.
Rhona - we have the spookiest housing division going up on a major road by us....there are hundreds and hundreds of houses. They are all huge, with enormous windows (that look into each other - what kind of view is that??), and have minimal yards...but here is the spooky part. I have yet to see a car, a kid, a trashcan, a pet. At Christmas time, if you drove past at night, the houses had some (few!) lights in them, but not a single one had any kind of decorations at all. It is WEIRD. Kind of Stepford-Wife.... |

MaryAnne, could they be unoccupied? Usually they don't build until they have a buyer... Thats why the 35 home subdivision a mile down the road has only built 8 homes in 3 years....I think the 3 homes going up next door are the Model homes....
It could be the group building the subdivision near you got got financing for the whole project and is just waiting for buyers....
I can see these for older couples wanting to down size the house and yard work, or a starter home... but the size and price isn't condusive to this thinking..... I've counted 4 in a 3 mile radius of my house. I'd say build them if there is a market for them. But I'm not seeing them selling, at least not here..... |

I can't believe the new development that is going up nearby. Huge houses
backing up to the railroad tracks, these tracks are for freight trains that
travel super slow in the evening and late at night. I wonder if these people know that the trains travel late at night and that they are real LONG trains that take almost an hour to get by. The houses will probably
be shaking and the noise will be terrible. We live far enough away that we
don't usually hear the trains but sometimes at night when they blow the whistle my hubby wakes up...and he is not a happy camper when this happens. I don't hear the train but LOL I hear my hubby
The sub-division across the road from us has huge homes, they are all on
one acre lots..but I've never seen anyone walking around, no children
playing outside. During the summer all I've seen are landscape services and maid services and before Christmas I see decorators putting up lights and decorations outside, they do a fantastic job but where are the people
who live there?
Across the main road from us, they are building huge homes, spitting distance from each other the sign says "Affordable New Homes
starting at $500,000" LOL...the main road is so busy all day and all night
that I can't understand why someone with enough money to buy these
homes would want to listen to traffic noise all the time. _________________ "Do onto Others as you would wish them do onto You!" |

Afordable at a half-mil and they aren't even Ocean front
The people buying the homes near the tracks..... I wonder what they think go on the tracks? I heard Agents get the Train scheduals and make sure they show the houses when the Trains aren't do to come thru.....
MaryAnne, When I move to a new area I do a lot of the "getting lost" you experenced... I call it "Adventuring" or "Exploring"..... |

LOL...I get lost all the time I have a terrible sense of direction probably because I don't drive often. LOL..before Christmas I went to
visit my brother, on the way home one of the roads was blocked by
police..I was in a panic because I didn't know of another way home and it was late evening...ROFLOL...I decided to pull up to one of the Police cars, explain my lack of direction , the Policemen was nice and explained in great detail how to get home _________________ "Do onto Others as you would wish them do onto You!" |

I think that is really part of the reason we don't see these people...I bet that they can't really afford these huge houses that only look at each other, and so they have to work, work, work to make the payments.
I keep trying to imagine what their heating bills are! Those windows are bad for keeping heat in... |

I don't think anyone's going to show up.
We are all going to be at the Oaks and the Derby.... I hope it wasn't a charitable fundraiser of some sort. |

Hmmm...we could calculate how much money that they LOST on that one. Paper and printing, envelope and postage. Probably comes out to at least .75 cents.
Now, if you really want to mess them up, don't cash it. Ever. That 2 cents will have auditors scratching their ears for years. |
